Is the validity of your blog post limited by time? How to write a timeless article

You need to write a timeless article. Don't just write to update your blog, write a blog post that will have an everlasting relevance. Articles that will add great value to your readers each time it's being read.

Write posts that will last for years without it's validity fading away. It should be the goal of every writer to keep your readers updated even when you've stopped writing, and it's only timeless articles that can make that possible.

Build good relationship with your readers

What is your aim of writing?

~Is it to attract comments?

~Is it to drive traffic to your blog or increase standing with search engines?

Write a quality article with well researched points and you'll not only gain all these things, but also keep your readers attention and ensure repeated visits. Write articles that teach them what they're ignorant of,solves their problems and guides them safely towards a certain path. Be very brief with your posts and to the point, avoid fluffs and fillers so as not to turnoff your readers.

Do not link to increase search engine rankings or increase traffic

Link with a purpose. Link to give your readers the full details of a point that you did'nt elaborate on. Link to quality articles that are relevant to what you're talking about. Link to clearify your reader's doubts,to increase their knowledge and to satisfy their wants. You can only do this if your major aim of writing is for the benefit of your readers.

But if it's for your own selfish interest, you'll end up linking anyhow you want. You'll link to blogs that are not in the same niche with you,to posts that have nothing to do with what you're writing about. Be mindful of this and the relevance of your articles will be prolonged. It's validity will remain intact and your readers will benefit from it any time any day.

Avoid and totally abhor plagiarism

Be original, unique and creative. It's better to link to sites that complement your blog posts than to copy and lift their contents. The major reason most writers resort to plagiarism is their hastiness to update their blogs on daily basis. They end up relying on someone else's hardwork.

My reason for not including dates on my blog posts is to avoid pressure caused by dates. Looking at the last time you updated your blog, you'll be pushed to update it regularly without minding the quality of what you're offering your readers.

This does not however mean that you should not update regularly, but it does not also mean that you should update on daily basis. Though quantity produces quality, you still need to be mindful of the relevance of your posts.

I have also come across a site that gives you permission to copy so long as you'll include the source(with a link)

Focus on time independent posts

There are several ways that you can do this based on your choice and decision. You can decide to get rid of the dates on your blog posts or alternatively place them below the posts. This will prevent your readers from being discouraged from reading posts written a long time ago. Another option you should consider is to disable the calendar on your side bar if you have any. But you can leave it if you write articles that are dependent upon time. Another choice you also need to make is whether to display your monthly archives or not. It's not advisable to disable it if you don't have any specific reason for displaying it. Just as I said earlier, all these depends on your choice and decision.

Conclusion

View your articles as investment and write timelessly.Put in your best and go extra-mile to ensure that the validity of your posts are not limited by time.

You're a great writer and writing great and timeless articles should be your priority.
